How much holiday are you entitled to?

Almost all workers are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks paid holiday a year.

This includes Agency workers, Irregular hours workers, Zero-hour contracted workers.

Employers can include bank holidays as part of this statutory annual leave.

Full Time

Most employees who work 5 days per week are entitled to a minimum of 28 days annual leaver per year.

Part Time

This will be pro-rata'd so if you work 3 days per week your leave will be (28/5)x3 which is 16.8 days.

Irregular hours

Shift workers are entitled to time off for every hour they work. This entitlement can be worked out using the link below.

Bank Holidays

Bank holidays do not have to be paid time off. Employers can include these within your entitlement.

Other aspects of holiday entitlement

All contracted employees have the right to get paid leave, accrue holiday days during maternity, paternity and adoption leave, accrue holiday whilst off sick, request holiday at the same time as sick leave.
